Natalie Beak is a Production Designer and Art Director who has worked throughout Australia and the UK. Since completing her Masters at the Australian, Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in 2006, Natalie has worked extensively in film, television, commercial and event production.
In 2007, she was the inaugural recipient of the Thelma Afford Award for excellence in Costume Design. Natalie has worked as Art Director on large-scale television productions including The Voice and Australia’s Next Top Model. She has designed independent films including Between Two Lines, Closed Doors and the Berlinale Crystal Bear Award-winning film Franswa Sharl. Natalie was Production Designer for all four seasons of ABC’s Black Comedy and designed the First Nation’s anthology feature film, We Are Still Here, which opened the 2022 Sydney Film Festival. Her latest project was the Stan Drama Series, Year Of – a raw, joyful exploration of teenage relationships set in the inner-urban world of Glebe.
With over 15 years of experience, Natalie is now AFTRS’ Discipline Lead in Production Design and serves as the Australian Screen Industry Guild Representative for the Australian Production Design Guild (APDG). Passionate about mentoring emerging practitioners, Natalie remains actively engaged in the industry, with a particular focus on new technologies and collaborative frameworks.
