After qualifying as an architect, Michael worked for the Zimbabwean Ministry of Housing before entering the film industry in the 1980s as a set designer. Thirty years on he has production designed dozens of feature films, a handful of television dramas and hundreds of commercials all over the world. He has won awards for best production design in both Australia and Africa.
Michael’s production design credits include Praise (directed by John Curran), Bopha (directed by Morgan Freeman), Garage Days (directed by Alex Proyas) and The Well (directed by Samantha Lang).
Concurrent with his production design work, Michael taught, tutored and mentored students at AFTRS and various other film schools, as well as researching and drafting curricula for BA, MA and Advanced Diploma design courses. He is currently teaching and developing curricula in his role as Senior Lecturer – Production Design at AFTRS.
