Mathieu Ravier has been appointed Director in the Partnerships & Development team at AFTRS in 2023.
The Partnerships & Development division of AFTRS is responsible for industry partnerships and training, alumni engagement, business development, marketing and communications, as well as the School’s student recruitment and admissions.
Matt has spent 25 years in the screen and cultural sectors, working for both business and non-profits as well as at State and Federal government organisations. Matt takes up the position on the leadership team at AFTRS after four and a half years as Chief Engagement Officer of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. At the NFSA, he significantly increased and diversified industry and audience engagement with the national audio-visual collection, through exhibitions, education, public programs, marketing, communications and digital publishing.
Born in France, Matt has lived in the US, Japan, Canada, Hong Kong and the UK before settling in Australia. After working as a Trade Officer for film, television and new media in Hong Kong and Artistic Director of the Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester, Matt moved to Australia in 2005 to run the events and audience development company The Festivalists, whose clients included Sydney Film Festival, Australian Museum and SBS.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialisation in Arts & Media Management from York University, Toronto. He has worked on several boards and advisory groups, including Sydney Film Festival, Australian Music Vault and the Australian Media Literacy Alliance.
