Since 2019, Marissa has worked within the First Nations & Outreach division at AFTRS: a not-for-profit division which supports a screen industry that is centred around First Nations pedagogies and belonging for all stories and storytellers. Within her role as Outreach Project Manager, Marissa has co-delivered AFTRS Talent Camp, Media Lab and nationwide community programs which aim to support pathways and access for Culturally and Racially Marginalised (CARM) creatives and community members.
Marissa brings over 10 years’ experience in creative and project management, copywriting, editing and marketing to her role. At AFTRS, she has the honour of working with hundreds of underrepresented screen practitioners each year through Outreach-led community programming, industry mentorships, training courses, networking events, panels and workshops.
Marissa was born on unceded Matinecock Country in so-called New York and now resides on the unceded land of the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. I acknowledge and pay my respect to the Sovereignty of all First Nations peoples.
