Ed Hughes is a media technology expert with a 30-year career in film, television and music media broadcast. He has an extensive working experience and operational knowledge of film and television post-production and broadcast processes and techniques, including AV and IT technology.
Ed’s past appointments spanned all levels of professional studio environments – from technical and operational to managerial. He also worked in professional equipment manufacturing industry, which made him a highly sought-after film, TV and radio broadcast production technology consultant across Australia, Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe.
Prior to joining AFTRS, Ed was a New York-based freelance broadcast systems technology consultant providing U.S. broadcast clients post-production/broadcast systems integration, project management and technical support. His client base included: World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL) Films, and Sound Lounge.
Earlier in his career in the United States, Ed was Fairlight’s North American technical manager. Fairlight, now Blackmagic Design, has been known as the world leader in audio and video systems, from media acquisition through to content delivery workflow for film, broadcast, post and live markets. Fairlight was widely used in leading entertainment centres such as LA and New York, and by premier media organisations such as Warner Brothers, Todd-AO and CBS.
