Don is an experienced Audit and Risk Committee member for Federal Government arts agencies including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the National Film and Sound Archive. He is also the chair of the Audit and Risk Committees of key central government agencies including the Department of Finance and Department of the Treasury.
Don holds numerous tertiary qualifications and professional memberships in accounting, fraud control, business and auditing and he is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand and a Certified Practicing Accountant. As a Chartered Accountant, Don has a strong appreciation of business strategy and performance as well as technical skills in accounting and assurance, financial management, risk management, program management and evaluation.
For a period of 21 years, he was a partner at KPMG and retired from the partnership in 2019 having been the lead partner for key strategic Federal Government accounts with KPMG. He led and delivered financial statement audit services to the public and private sectors and was lead partner for the delivery of internal audit, risk management, and assurance services to numerous Federal Government agencies.
