In this 10-week online intermediate course—through interactive tutorials and exercises with individual feedback—you will examine screenplay structure and scene analysis, working with actors, designing your world, collaborating with your team, pitching for projects, director’s statements and more.

Is The Director's Journey Bootcamp right for you?
The Director’s Journey Bootcamp is a comprehensive course covering the craft of directing, with the opportunity to submit written exercises and receive individual feedback from your industry expert tutor. Ideally you would have directed a short film, web series, TVC or similar and are looking to expand your skills in the areas of working with actors and creating a script breakdown.
It is expected that students entering this course can understand the director’s role in translating stories to the screen; outline how the director leads a creative team through collaboration with various heads of department; and identify approaches of collaborating with actors from preparation to screen as covered in our Intro to Directing course.
This course is ideal for aspiring and emerging directors seeking to improve their directing skills and break into the screen industry. It is also ideal for actors, screenwriters, producers and other experienced filmmakers seeking industry insights as they transition into directing.
Course Requirements and Delivery
The Director’s Journey Bootcamp is an online course that consists of two Zoom sessions per week across 10 weeks and three hours of self-directed learning per week. You will need access to a desktop or laptop computer with a camera, sound and a reliable internet connection for the Zoom sessions.
