Our two-year, full-time Master of Arts Screen, offered in 9 disciplines—Cinematography, Directing, Documentary, Editing, Music, Producing, Production Design, Screenwriting, and Sound Design—focuses on ongoing practical collaborations and research work that enable students to apply creative thinking to real-world scenarios and develop life-long partnerships.
“The way we approach creative practice is an intricately interwoven program providing intensive learning through three main areas. Core content is always reinforced through practical exercises and learning through doing, and then what elevates our practice and makes us unique is the fact that we’re constantly reflecting and inquiring about our work, giving ourselves space to think about it and to take it to the next level.”
– said Juliet John, MAS Program Convenor, during last year’s Postgrad Info sessions.
With a strong commitment to accessibility, AFTRS offers flexible study options for the Master of Arts Screen: Business and the Graduate Diploma in Radio and Podcasting.
Designed for a new generation of screen leaders, the Master of Arts Screen: Business is Australia’s foremost screen business course. Jill Kingston, MASB Alum, said about the research subject delivered at the end of the course:
“Every week, we did practice presentations with whatever we were at with our research and our thinking. It was a great collaborative environment where we all questioned each other and helped each other.”
The Graduate Diploma in Radio and Podcasting provides hands-on, industry-focused training focusing on communication, storytelling, and audience engagement. Natalie Pozdeev, GDRP Program Convenor, said about the application process:
“As you think through your idea, think about how you connect with the audience. Radio and podcasting are all about connecting with the audience, so that’s one of the things we are really looking for and listening for.”
Apart from the course talks, you can tour our cutting-edge campus. From advanced production studios to industry-standard editing suites, our facilities provide all the tools and resources you need to hone your skills and advance your career. Our admissions team will be on hand to provide guidance, personalised advice and insights into our application process and scholarships.
