AFTRS Graduate Diploma in Radio students today launched 2NRS on iHeart Radio, a commercial pop-up radio station broadcasting the hottest hits from today with a rewind to favourite tracks of the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s. 2NRS celebrates First Nation, Australian and international artists.
This is the second assessment broadcast for 2020, with students broadcasting – and learning – remotely as they remain off campus due COVID-19.
2NRS is a national pop-up radio station with a regional focus and provides experiential learning, with students broadcasting from home studios to areas outside of their own geographical location. It will broadcast from June 1-June 15.
Logistically this is made possible using Zetta 2GO, Selector 2GO, Zoom, RINGR and Microsoft teams for collaboration purposes. All students have their own ProTools account and access to the Adobe suite.
Live from 7am – 6pm daily for the next two weeks, the broadcast can be heard via the 2NRS website and the iHeart Radio app.
“Podcast, web and social media content will also be a focus. This year students will be producing two daily podcast episodes for ‘The Essentials – A Podcast series about the people who keep the country running and their experiences in the time of coronavirus’ and ‘Radio Road Trip – A Podcast series travelling to regional towns each day’”.
Fyona Smith, AFTRS Head of Radio
Industry air-checkers assisting with 2NRS include The Project and PodSchool’s Rachel Corbett, Hit Fraser Coast Breakfast Announcer Kristina McKenna, General Manager 2CH, Cherie Romaro, Group Content Director for HIT WA Amy Collett, Project U Editor Nic Kelly, former ACE Content Director Ryan Khay, and General Manager Grant Broadcasters Muswellbrook Joel Gosper.
