AFTRS Graduate Diploma of Radio students have launched their second pop-up network of the year.
The ultimate 80s-to-now station streams online and on iHeart Radio nationally. Curated and produced by the class of 2018, students experience what it’s like to broadcast to a regional area from studios located outside the region.
2RS (which stands for Regional Simulation) streams online for two weeks and mirrors successful regional formats, broadcasting to three regions: Wollongong, Muswellbrook and Nowra.
Students spent two days with Grant Broadcasters in the three markets prior to broadcast, learning about operations and content for regional radio stations.
2RS ‘Keeping it Local’ targets the 35-54 demographic and is a contemporary mix of established artists with new music and local information.
Students are working in the roles of Digital Content Producer, Music Director, Producer, Announcer and Audio Producer and are focused on developing their skills to create engaging content.
AFTRS Program Leader Radio Lisa Sweeney said employment prospects are already looking very hopeful for the Class of 2018.
“Most of the students are already being offered either casual work or internships across many stations including 2GB, the ABC, SBS, Nova and ARN,” she said.
2RS is live until Friday 15 June. Listen on the 2RS website and Facebook.
