Is telling an audio story really that different to a visual story? Can audio give audiences the same emotional, visceral feeling they’re used to from the screen? The answer is YES.
Writing Audio requires a specific skill set and perspective to ensure the audience is immersed in the story. We need to feel invested in the content, characters and personalities within seconds to cut through our time-poor, over app’d lives. In this session, we will explore the fundamental skills required to write for the ear versus the eye.
Join AFTRS Head of Radio and Podcasting Fyona Smith as she talks with a range of experts in the field: Podcasters Mike Williams (ABC) and Allison Chan (ABC/FBi/The Guardian), academics and creators Susan Kerrigan and Pieter Aquilia and author Jane Messer
You’ll be invited to engage in the discussion and listen to a range of examples via wireless radio headsets (provided). There will also be a performance and recording of a short audio narrative.
This live event is tailored to creatives interested in audio storytelling, radio and podcasts.
