Master of Screen Arts - Directing, 2012; Graduate Diploma – Directing, 2010
Dave Edwardz studied directing at AFTRS, graduating with a Masters of Screen Arts in 2012. His short film The Trophy Thief (2015) is a coming-of-age story set in the world of children’s soccer. The film was supported by Screen Australia’s Talent Escalator Fund and went on to screen at Palm Springs International Film Festival, among others. His other directing credits include shorts Dead Boring (2009) and Compulsion (2013).
Dave also works as a VFX specialist, and his credits as a previz artist include Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Doctor Strange, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Lego Movie. He was also the visualisation supervisor on Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, Mary Poppins Returns and Netflix series Shadow and Bone.
AFTRS HIGHLIGHT
The first short course that I did out at the old Epping building; a week-long lighting masterclass with the late Andrew Lesnie. The course was so inspirational and opened up a world of opportunity for me.
