Friday May 18: James McTeigue : Directing in Hollywood

Raised in Sydney, Hollywood based James McTeigue began his filmmaking career as a third assistant director on Australian films working his way up to first assistant director on a string of films including The Well, Paradise Road, and the Wachowski brothers; The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in addition to first AD'ing on Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

McTeigue made his feature directorial debut with the Wachowskis' screenplay, V for Vendetta starring Natalie Portman and then went on to direct Ninja Assassin in 2009. McTeigue's latest project - a dark  thriller - The Raven, about a 19th century serial killer who begins murdering victims using methods from Edgar Allan Poe's stories, starring John Cusack has just opened in the US.

James will talk about The Raven and the journey from third assistant AD to Hollywood director…

Friday May 18: Sally Ingelton Documentary Filmmaker - Candid and Compelling

How can anyone possibly say that the best stories come from the imagination when so often it's real life!

Sally Ingleton has been writing, directing and producing award-winning documentaries for more than 25 years, creating illuminating programs which have been praised and enjoyed worldwide. Sally has used undercover surveillance to record the intriguing habits of some of our most protected species; exposed a critical quest to locate and preserve ancient seeds to save our food from the impact of global warming and provided a shocking account of a perilous journey in the life of Tibetan refugees as they attempted to escape to Nepal for freedom. Her survey of the work of renowned architectural photographer John Gollings will remain an invaluable resource and inspiration for many decades to come.

Sally will talk candidly about crafting into compelling viewing, the engaging and occasionally controversial subjects that pervade
