Concept for technical suitesAFTRS new home in Moore Park is being fitted out with state of the art screen, broadcast and new media resources and facilities.

The building, located in the north east section of the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park, has been designed to foster collaboration and interaction.

Technical Facilities

 

  • Two film soundstages/ television studios at 350 sq m
  • Three multi purpose studios for smaller shoots, rehearsals and teaching workshops at 70, 80 and 110 sq m
  • Main Theatre with High Definition (D-Cinema) projector, integrated presentation desk, and multi format film projectors. Seating for 120 people
  • Vision and sound control suites with connectivity to all studios, Main Theatre and Foyer
  • Three digital radio broadcasting suites and production studio
  • Three sound recording studios
  • Multi function (mix) theatre with seating for 40 people
  • Thirty technical suites for picture, sound, screen composition and digital production
  • Centralised post production facilities including, On line, Web streaming, DVD authoring suites and digitising station.

Production Facilities

Concept for meeting spaces

A dedicated production zone including:

  • Four configurable production offices
  • Green room
  • Crew catering and breakout area
  • Make-up room with four stations
  • Two dressing rooms with ensuites
  • Standby wardrobe room with laundry
  • Props and costume store
  • Scenery construction with paint and welding workshops
  • Props maintenance laundry
  • Costume workroom with laundry.

Technical Storage

 

  • Technical store for securing and maintaining all AFTRS portable technical equipment
  • Secure grip and gaffer stores.

Media Resources

 

A Media Resource Centre housing an extensive collection of specialist resources, both hard copy and electronic media and incorporating three viewing rooms, teaching space, quiet study, relaxed reading areas and Laboratory for Advanced Media Production (LAMP) 'sandpit'.

Multi Purpose Social Spaces

 

  • Foyer atrium incorporates student services, café, events catering facility and access to adjacent multi function studio will provide additional function and exhibition space
  • Heritage Park at the front of the building will be an extension of social space for larger events
  • Roof terraces on Levels 1 and 2 will serve as breakout and function areas for staff and students.

A range of flexible open work spaces designed to encourage collaboration.
